WOYWW #184

So, what have I been up to this week? Well, for those who are here since it's Wednesday, thanks to the fabulous Julia at Stamping Ground, you'll be wanting to see the workspace, huh?
I've made a right old mess, eh? I've also been watching Shakespeare soooo...a bad English accent is running the commentary in my head right now. :) But here is the project I've been working on, the one I alluded to last week and for which most of the mess can be blamed upon...
It's not finished, exactly, yet. But I think its close. I love the colors and shabbiness but its actually not a style I feel that I am able to do very well at...what do you all think of it? Can you tell me what it's missing?
Anyways, here is another card I made this week...The 5 pennants part is copied from a design I saw elsewhere but the rest is pretty much all me. Except of course that putting doilies on cards wasn't my idea originally, either...well, I still *actually* made it so that counts for something, right? :)
It's really pretty cheerful, huh? Well, I hope your week is as bright and cheery as this card and as yummy as the chocolate cake I had last week. And this week. ;)

  1. Nice creations, what about some bling, sparkly bits and you need something else in the bottom right corner. What about some words.....

Good to see you creating again and not studying so hard or sitting exams.

    Happy WOYWW

    1. Haha, actually I have one exam left, a two hour essay style exam, which I am taking today from 3-5pm. But then I'm done for a few weeks! Woohoo! :)
Oh, I had some bling on it and had to rip it off because it just looked...glaring...? I don't know how to describe it, but it looked wrong, like tacky or too "new" for the piece. But maybe some pinkish(like the more muted pink) glitter in just the right shade and just the right places...? And I agree about the words...I just haven't found them yet. Part of the reason there is such a disaster on my desk! I have been searching through all my stuff, which is fun and now I've lots of ideas for other projects, but I still haven't found just the write thing for that corner or for above the fence panel...I think there should be some words there, too, right?
Thanks for your tips Eliza! :)

    2. I mean just the *right* thing...although just the "write" thing is like a play on words, isn't it, since I am looking for words! :)

  2. For your shabby display box, the only thing I can think of is taking a tiny amount of pink paint on your finger and lightly touching the trim with it, kinda smearing it...hope that makes sense...and thanks for the bad English accent I am now doing it in my head! lol waving the #92 from the hills of North Carolina :)

    1. I think I know what you mean...if you mean the outer like frame part?
Haha-about your bad English accent, it's like a contagious disease, isn't it?! And you've caught it! lol :)

  3. Between the 2 of us we might get everything straightened out..lol The 6 month comment was about what was on my dining room table and not the Christmas village, lol..and yes I was talking about the frame :)

  4. Very nice projects and I think the shabby chic is showing through on the panel and the card is awesome! I enjoyed my Bahamas cruise and went to New Orleans cause I wanted to see the French Quarter and Bourbon Street. I have cruised out of Port Canaveril in Orlando FL, Galveston, and now New Orleans and I think each has pluses for going there. Favorite is Galveston though. It was rainy and cool in the Caribbean this time and you really couldn't sit out on deck much but still found lots of things to do! I will be posting pics on my blog soon. Hope you are all ready for Christmas! I will be starting today! Thanks for visiting my desk and leaving such a nice comment! Have a great week! Vickie #3

  5. I love the panel and cant thank of anything to add although the suggestion of some words in the bottom right will balance it out with the top maybe ... how come we are never happy with our creations. I'd be so proud of myself if I could make something so beautiful.have a wonderful week and I like the idea of chocolate cake .mmm...x #28

  7. Thanks for visiting my Desk.
The only thing I would maybe do is to tone down the white frame (as suggested by someone else above) But the longer I look at it at the more I thing ...leave it it is done.
I love the Penant Idea....maybe I will need to steal the Idea....just once for one Card:)

  11. Lovely project - what are your plans for it.... it looks OK as it is, but if you want to make it look shabbier - add some distress inks to the very edges of the card - but rough them up a bit with the blades of your scissors (if that makes sense)...

Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving your lovely comments about my sleeping beauty (my cat) behind my Cameo! She's actually moved now onto my chair because i've had to spread out into the kitchen - infact earlier, both my cats were on the chair at the same time... could be because it has a nice furry blanket over it! I managed to get another couple of nice pictures that will no doubt make it onto my blog soon!

Hope our paths cross again soon, I'm a week late with WOYWW - but better late than never I say!!!

    happy crafting

  12. Chin up, old chap. Yeah.... that bad English accent thing it totally contagious. Great banner or pennant or wall hanging thing or whatever you call it. I think it may need something on the lower right panel to balance it out some, but don't ask me what. I like the 5 pennants on the card too.
