Sunday Brunch

Had a lovely brunch this past Sunday! I was a little curious to see exactly how it would turn out, mostly because I am not known to be a morning person...but I did so much of the prep the night before that I felt like a Proverbs 31 woman the next morning when my guests arrived a scant hour and a half after my alarm went off! But this woman isn't so good with the camera so I didn't get as many pictures as I had planned to share with ya'll...in fact the food pictures got taken afterwords so ya'll don't even get to see all the yummy food and drinks we had, but I know you'll forgive me...ya'll are just great like that! ; )
So, without further ado, here are the pictures I got:
My living room turned dining room so there was room for the extra long table...I don't have a formal dining room, which I don't miss since we are two for dinner most of the time, and thankfully the furniture moves! So we still can have room for a crowd for dinner or other get-togethers.
Horrible picture! Sorry its so blurry but it was sooooo early in the day! The wonderful lady in the kitchen is the mother of my sis's beau and since she came before everyone else she got to cut up the fresh fruit for the fruit pizza! I'll give you the recipe later, but I'll mention here this is a yummy dish and really great for potlucks and whatnot, just don't add the fruit until the day of serving, though the "crust" can be made a few days in advance.
Ahh! This one is in focus a little better but now you can see what a disaster parts of my kitchen were! Oh, well. Now ya'll know...I'm not perfect. I guess you had to find out sooner or later. : )
Here is a little picture of some of the leftovers...before they got finished too! I made individual fritatta's, turkey sausage and bacon, the fruit pizza at the top of the picture. We also had a tiered display of fresh fruits, a mini bagel bar featuring Philly cheesecake and cream cheese spreads, rolls for mini sandwiches of fresh deli shaved oven roasted turkey breast and cracked pepper with swiss, colby or cheddar cheeses. We had 3 iced buckets of drinks...this was a fun easy way for me to make all the drink options available to my guests so they could help themselves to a new drink whenever they wanted...which added to the casual feel and kept me from having to be too awake so early! And let me tell you, if you have never had a mimosa, especially a twisted up one like I made, then you have been missing out! I offered regular orange juice and champagne for the original mimosa and strawberry or peach champagne plus a mixed juice cocktail for the more modern mimosa...and allllllll versions were yummy! Hey, you should have a brunch next weekend...it's a great way to spend time with family and friends before they, and you, have to get all your other Sunday stuff done before the work week starts. If you do please take more pictures than I did! And share them with us...  ; )

Brunch-n-munch?

We're looking forward to our first brunch, this Sunday, in our new home! With my sister and her beau coming up from the city and parents galore popping in it should be a nice mix of family...but that doesn't mean we aren't planning to have mimosa's! Anybody got any great brunch recipes they want to shoot my way? Drinks or sides or mains, I don't care, send me what you got and if I make it I will photo and post it...probably on Monday, so look for it! I need a mimosa recipe too...! I know the weekend isn't here yet but I am looking forward to it so much that I will say it a little early...hope you have a good one!

I got my link on!

No thanks to my slacker friend I went and got all blarghy techno and found the linky thing that will show you some of my other posts below the one you are reading...cool, huh? Now I just have to write more interesting stuff! First up...how long has it been since you watched Days of Thunder? Much like Tom Cruises new movie, Knight and Day, its one of his best. Cameron Diaz rocks a lovely yellow bridesmaid frock with some rough and rowdy boots to give Cruise some substance...all in all a seriously funny action packed flick. Get it at the Redbox or on Netflix...or anywhere else you like but get it soon and let me know if you luved it too!

Check out my pages!

Has anybody noticed my new feature? I have put some things on the pages now, too. Wondering if anyone has any ideas for new pages...maybe something you would like to see or know more about? Like if ya'll wanted a recipe page I could do that and post my favs or healthy meals, and no, the two are not mutually exclusive! ;) Anyways, feel free to leave your ideas or interests in the comments area and I will see what I can do for ya'll! And thanks, in advance, for helping me make this a more interesting functional blog!

Weenie Dawg Helps with the Laundry!

This is my sons "clean" laundry basket...I took this stuff out of the dryer for him and put it in the basket then turned my back on it to match some socks and when I turned back around Weenie had made himself comfortable! So, I carried him into the living room and snapped a few quick pics...and I'm sure you'll be happy to know he went right back to sleep afterwords and is asleep there now! I have to let you guys know these things just in case I am in any danger of losing my best Weenie Dawg spoiler status.

I'm a blue rose!

Took this fun quiz...and I am a blue rose...

What's in a blue rose? According to the quiz results:

You(that's me) represent the unattainable and fantasies(I think this sounds more mysterious than I really am...!)

Your vibe: larger than life and intoxicating(I do have a way of making people fall over their feet... ; )

Falling in love with you is: like seeing a whole new world(This is the one I most agreed with, but I never would have been able to finish that sentence on my own. Can you?)

So, just for fun, go see what color rose you are and let me know in the comment section...it'll be fun. Pinky promise!; )

Aww, you shouldn't have...but I'm so glad you did!

I have received 2 sassy awards from a very wonderful fellow blogger! Thank You Poe@Polymer Playtime!!!

And I figured out I there is some business to take care of in accepting these awards:
1. Link back and thank my giver.
2. State 7 facts about myself you may not know.
3. Choose 15 other recently discovered great bloggers.
4. Contact the bloggers and tell them about the award.

7 things about me you may not know...or want to, for that matter!

1. I'm at least, AT LEAST, twice as funny as I look.
2. I'm not allowed to lick myself anymore because the doctor is afraid I'll develop diabetes.
3. Sometimes when I am awake I find myself falling asleep...
4. The steering wheel on my desk is malfunctioning and I might crash into the wall!
5. I have one thousand favorite colors and they are all pinkish or green.
6. My best friend isn't allowed to text and I have finally made peace with it. Helps that I don't text either!
7. I know people who think socks with cows on them should be worn for hand mittens. I really do!

Who loves it?

Found this fabulous *free* blog template last night, okay it was very late last night, but still...just wondering what ya'll think of it. Comments and awards for my excellent taste are all welcome! ; )

Hope everyone is having a fun-tastic-ba-U-tiful day!

Here's your snow!

In case you aren't getting any snow here are some pictures of ours:
My backyard view...pretty standard, huh? But the snow looks lovely!
My front porch with it's dusting of snow...
My frontyard view...we don't have anyone next door right now so our front yard is bigger than ever. That little tree moved with us from our old home and the poor birdies have a feeder but it's empty!
This is Weenie Dawg getting up the nerve to jump in! He has to be pushed out the door when it's this cold out. He does his business and runs right back in...and finds an air vent to huddle on! I should have put his little sweater on him, huh? Hope you guys who aren't getting much snow can enjoy it from "afar".

Just a thought...

It's been my experience that in this life you will meet and love many people. Some of them you will let down and some of them will let you down, but none of it will be because it is what they or you deserve. Maybe this is too public a forum for my feelings, but I just want to put it out there that if someone hurts you don't ever think you deserved it because no matter what we do we can repent and change our ways and be forgiven by God, so if God wants to forgive us then do we really deserve the pain we often dish out to one another? I just don't think so and I hope you don't either. I hope you can face this "new" year fresh and take all the pain others, and yourself, have dumped or inflicted on you and put it behind you, realizing that for the most part it probably didn't even have anything to do with you, but at the very least you didn't deserve it because pointless suffering has never been Gods will and desire for you. Now, I know we aren't all perfect, we have hurt others, but that doesn't mean we deserve to be hurt back, or as an old saying goes, "Two wrongs don't make a right." And the next time someone hurts you, try forgiving them, for one thing, and not taking it too personally. I know this isn't as light and funny as the rest of my posts but I hope no one takes it personally or feels like I am talking about them personally as I just mean it generally. Even if your name is, oh I shouldn't say, should I? ; ) Anyways, I can always delete it if ya'll hate it, huh? Course, you will have to make a comment to that effect or I won't know, will I? Hmmm....hope this helps someone somehow anyways.
