WOYWW # 166 and Official News!

My degree posted on my transcript(yesterday)but I just saw it today...I am an Official Graduate! So no one's throwing me a party but there is a celebration going on in my head! lol :) I know I already shared that I finished my last two classes but I didn't know what I made in them, I don't think, anyways I passed them both with A's, so that helped my GPA, yeah! Just thought I would share my good news with you, thanks for listening! :)

But onto why y'all are really here...the workspace! A big thanks to Julia over at Stamping Grounds for hostessing this snoop blast of a linky party! ;)
The desk shot. Not much happening, huh? :) Finally got that House Mouse colored image made into a card though...no sentiment on the outside because, honestly, I love how the image pops off the faux wooden background so much I almost want to frame it and keep it for myself! lol
The next image poses a problem...
This is currently how I have my clear larger stamp sets and embossing powders organized. It's so handy because it has a handle and all the little pockets on the outside that perfectly fit the little powder containers. The problem? Oh, you guessed already? So you have this problem, too? You have outshopped your storage solution? Me too! :) I'm wondering if anyone knows of any taller, thin but thick enough for stamps, containers I could switch to so my stamps can be reorganized to still fit into this handled container...I'm only overflowing it a little bit. :) And by a little bit I mean, um, like 6 sets or so? Not including all the little sets in one of the yellow bins, of course. But speaking of it...I'm sorta overflowing it a tiny bit too...just by 4 or 5 sets, though. :) If you have any suggestions at all I really appreciate them and links for pics if you have 'em! Thanks you lovely people out there online and in real life somewhere, somewhere over the rainbow...that'll be stuck in my head now! lol :)

  1. Happy WOYWW. Sorry, no suggestion for new storage solution - but I can sympathise. I have most of my stamps in a drawer in a small cabinet under my workdesk, but there are some Xmas ones in my xmas craft box. I always end up rummaging through them, and always 'finding' ones that I have I had forgotten about! Ali x #81

  2. No, I've got no answers either... always looking for storage solutions, even with my relatively modest stash. I think your faux wood's amazing - wouldn't have known it wasn't real if you hadn't said - fabulous work! Huge congratulations on your Official Graduate status too.

    1. You are so sweet to think I made that faux wood background! I don't even have the talent though, or at least I haven't even tried to make faux wood...that background is an awesome sheet of paper from Hobby Lobby's Paper Studio. But it is very realistic, huh? Thanks for the congrats. :)

  6. Love your buckets full of pens and tools, so organized. And that mouse is too adorable! I'd want to keep him, too.

I keep my unmounted stamp in 3 ring binders. I make pages/pockets from slider ziploc bags. Someday I'll post on my blog how I do it. Actually, I've outgrown the two binders I have and need to go on to a third.

    Happy Woyww!

    1. I clicked on the pic of your desk and then it wouldn't let me see your blog again so I could leave a comment...? I'll try again later, but I hit refresh several times and nothing would come up...? Anyways, thanks for the suggestion. I'm seeing lots of people use a system kind of like that so it must be pretty handy...I may have to give it a go. :)

  7. Woo hoo. Congrats on your graduation (and finishing up with two As)!!!! The best parties sometimes are the ones we have in our heads.

Hmm, the storage thing. Well, I store some things in the plastic bins that are supposed to hold pendaflex folders. They have a handle on the lid and the lid comes totally off. Would that work?

Today is my anniversary. Blog candy will be announced soon. I'm taking a poll though, so pop on over and put in your 2 cents!

    1. Thanks for the congrats and the suggestion! My family did end up having a little party for me, which had more company than the one in my head... :) Anyways...went and took your poll and left a comment because your blog candy looked delish! :)

  8. Congrats again on the graduation this summer! Storage is always a big issue around here. I just got a couple more of the cube things put together...found 2 at $14.99 each on clearance at Hobby Lobby and I am getting closer to moving into my new room. For stamp storage I use DVD cases for smaller and Stampin Up! sets. I bought some plastic baskets and used those for a long time. Vickie #130

    1. I have some wooden stamps in plastic baskets but the clear ones seem to get lost in there...storage is tricky, huh? Hope your re-org is going well! :)
And thanks for the congrats. Much appreciated! :)

  9. OMG you are a graduate with A's CONGRATULATIONS CONGRATULATIONS how wonderful. Sorry on the storage ideas, I used CD boxes the middle size ones not the slim but you have to hunt for them. I found some in those $2 type shops and when they all ran out I stripped the CD collection and pulled the insert out. I have a post on my storage and cataloging in a former post. The stamps that are too big I use either a DVD box or a file box which can fit heaps in. It is the cataloging that is the important part. Time consuming but well worth the effort. Here is the link if you want to have a look. Embossing powders have their own container box as most items in my art room. LOL Labeling and numbering is paramount.

I hope this has helped you in some way, you never know. Happy crafting.

    1. Thank you so much for the big congrats Eliza! I once tried the smaller cd cases and that was a fail...lol Your system blows my mind! Its like taking organization to the max and then going a little farther still! :) And it is helpful, even if I can't copy it exactly, for lack of space, I'm still taking away the tip that labeling is paramount. Thanks for that dear! :)

  10. I forgot to add the tree in my window is a Camelia Japonica Double Pink. It is about 45 years old and so beautiful and flowers in winter. It should grow in most climates and worth giving it a try.

    1. Here it would flower in the summer, then? Hmmm. I looked it up and we are just not quite far enough south to grow it...because it gets more than 10 below zero at times in our winters. But I could try it and just really baby it if the weather was supposed to go lower than -10...contemplating. :)

  11. Congrats. A very big deal indeed. I am impressed you found time to craft while in school. Great acheivement.

Hmmm..girlfriend if you could see my bulging storage in my room you might not seek advice from me. I do have a book that has good inspiration. It is called, "Organization Tips for Scrapbookers" has great pictures in it. The first thing you need to determine is if you want it to be 'grab and go storage' or if you don't mind it stationery and possibly out of site. If small clear stamps you could use clear CD jewel cases. You could label the spine for easy identification. I also store some in 3-ring binders with page protectors. If you have a lot of space you could use labelled/categorized baskets similar to what you have but organized by theme to make it easier. Another resource to find great storage ideas is Youtube. Just enter storage for stamps or some variation and you should find good stuff. Let me know how it works out. I am always open to a new system.

    1. Thanks for the youtube suggestion! I found an awesome tutorial on there for customizing the pocket/page protector binder style storage system that I think I would like to try. :) My main problem is I don't have much space and I've tried using binders for stickers before and they just took up too much space so I'm unsure if that will work for the stamps, since it didn't work for the stickers...but I do have less stamps than stickers so maybe...:)

  12. I found this at Amazon. It's close to what I was telling you about. Although the one I have has a clear lid and doesn't lock. Good luck with the search!!

I checked it out and I've seen something similar here that I could get my hands on...not sure if that's the route I want to go yet, though. I'm a little stuck on thinking I can somehow keep using the handled tote they are currently in...if I could just get the stamps better organized, you know? I just love the handled tote so much, its so handy to just grab and have a quick look through...anyways, thanks again for the link and suggestions! They are much appreciated. :)

  13. Congratulations on your graduation! That's a big deal where I come from and a cause to celebrate, even if it is only in your head (the celebration not the reason!). I'm no good for clear stamp storage. Most of mine are in a shoebox that I have to dig through when I want to use one. Needless to say I often forget what is in there, not a good solution. My thought though is to use what you currently have to keep sets you use frequently in since it is handy. Then weed out sets you aren't that into or don't use as much and put those in some other storage container together. Just a thought... not sure how practical.

    1. Thanks Princess Judy! It's a great suggestion and practical, too, if I can figure out which stamp sets I don't use much! lol I don't have that many and I do use most of them quite frequently when I'm making a pile of cards...I don't have any that I can think of that I "favor" as go to stamps, though. Hmmm...I'll just have to think it over, huh? :) Take care and thanks for the congrats and suggestions! They are appreciated. :)

  14. Congratulations on graduating, I'd love to send you a card, if it's OK with you, then e-mail me your address @ sandeesetliff@yahoo.com As for the storage, why not try removing them from the hard plastic sleeves and putting them in baggies? That might cut down on some space. waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
